Cuban Journey

We have separated the Cuba Journey Run into three sections:

1. Pre-run events
2. Run events
3. Post-run events

• The Web page will be created which will be updated daily.  This web page will create excitement worldwide.  Included will be pre-production events in Cuba, along with pre-run activities.  This will include pictures and video in Cuba.
• The Web page will give media access to uploaded Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) photos, suitable for publication in the press -- before, during, and after the run.
• Prior to the run, a Gala Celebration in Atlanta will be held to include press and dignitaries.  Via satellite the host country government officials will announce the planned run.
• Press kits and background material will be provided for all major media.  Kits to be sent to media not attending the social function.
• Media interviews, speaking engagements and planned media events will be developed and requests for same will be handled through Friendship Sports Association, a nonprofit organization promoting friendship through various international sports activities.
• Friendship Sports Association, through the Web page, will have daily updates for media (short training statements, where Stan will be speaking, etc.) 
• Coordinate all commercial sponsor appearances.
• Arrange national speaking engagements before trade groups and clubs.
• Promote and publicize planning trip to Cuba in Spring 2000.
• Arrange Washington, D.C. trip to get Executive, Senate and Congressional endorsements.
• Start arrangements to meet with diplomats from each country.
• Stan will visit in Cuba prior to the Event to meet with dignitaries.
• United Nations recognition prior to the Run is a priority.  Special attention should be given to Voice of America interviews.
• Mickey Grant, film maker, who produced and directed China Run and  Destination DaNang, will be handling all pre-production activities and the first significant production of a feature-length documentary in Cuba since the embargo.

• Web page includes live video of Stan's run, streamed on a daily basis, along with updated photos daily.  The page will also include a live web-cam for live viewing of the day's run and the sites of Cuba along the way.
• Web page will include live interactivity between Stan, Cubans on the route, and the Internet.  These interactions will be incorporated into the film.
• Friendship Sports  will handle requests for special media coverage during the run. 

• Web page will post archival footage of the event.  There will be sample edited scenes in progress for the film for viewing by the web audience.  The web page will promote the film to both buyers and distributors.
• Run completion ceremony.  Interviews at the end of the Run.  Stan and filmmaker Mickey Grant to meet with dignitaries and other key individuals in Havana.
• Prepare a speech for Stan's press event.
• A return gala for press and dignitaries to be held when Stan flies back to USA.  
• Follow-up with the White House, Congressional and UN visits for the improvement of US-Cuban relations.
• Seek out further opportunities to improve US-Cuban relations.
